Properties

It is a strong and sharp spicy smelling oil, and is faintly reminiscent of clove oil, yet more refined and can range in colour from light amber to yellow-green and has a watery viscosity.

Origin

The plant originated in India, Malaysia, Madagascar, China and Indonesia. The oil is mostly made in Singapore, India and Malaysia.

Extraction
The unripe, sun-dried peppercorns (fruit) are used in extraction using steam distillation method.
Chemical composition
Eugenol, Safrole, Thujene, Farnesene, A-Pinene, B-Pinene, Sabinene, Limonene, Beta Caryophyllene, and Camphene.
Therapeutic properties
analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, aphrodisiac, digestive, diuretic, febrifuge, laxative, rubefacient, tonic.
Uses

Black pepper oil is used in :-

  1. pain relief
  2. rheumatism
  3. chills
  4. flu
  5. colds
  6. increasing circulation
  7. exhaustion
  8. muscular aches
  9. physical and emotional coldness
  10. nerve tonic
  11. fevers
Precautions
  • Black pepper oil may cause irritation to sensitive skin.
  • Using too much could over-stimulate the kidneys.
  • It should be avoided in pregnancy.
Blends with

Bergamot, Clary sage, Clove, Coriander, Fennel, Frankincense, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Jupiner, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Sage, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.
