Properties

Thuja essential oil has a woody, fruity aroma. It is colourless to pale green with light consistency.
Origin

It originated in East Asia.

Extraction
 Thuja oil is extracted by fresh leaves and twigs using steam distillation.
Chemical composition

A-thujone, b-thujone, a-pinene, camphene, d-sabinene, fenchone, camphone, terpinen-4-ol and bornyl acetate.
Therapeutic properties

Anti rheumatic, astingent, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, insect repellent, rubefacient, stimulant, tonic, vermifuge.
Uses
 Thuja essential oil helps with:
  1. coughs
  2. fever
  3. intestinal parasites
  4. venereal diseases
  5. cystitis
  6. rheumatism
  7. gout
  8. warts
  9. abnormal cell growths
  10. polyps
  11. skin cancers
  12. tumors of skin
  13. mucosa

Precautions
  • Taken in excess, this oil can produce unpleasant results.
  • It is an abortifacient (agent causing abortion) and convulsant in overdose.
  • The leaf oil is considered toxic.
  • Do not use during pregnancy.
  • Do not use without medical supervision.
