Properties

Wintergreen essential oil is pale yellow in colour with an intense sweet-woody aroma.
Origin

It is a native to North America.

Extraction

The oil is extracted from the leaves using steam distillation.
Chemical composition

Menthyl salicylate and gaultherilene
Therapeutic properties

analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, antitussive, astringent, carminative, diruetic, emmenagogue, galactagogue and stimulant.
Uses
  1. It is mainly employed for joint and muscular problems such as lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, myalgia, etc
Precautions

  • Wintergreen oil should always used in diluted form.

  • Avoid using during pregnancy.

Blends with
Oregano, Peppermint, Thyme and Ylang Ylang.
